Truecaller becomes more popular than Facebook


Truecaller, the largest communication app becomes the fourth most downloaded app in India by defeating the biggest social app, Facebook.

It gets more than one lakh in-app advertisers every day.

Truecaller was founded by Alan Mamedi and Nami Zarringhalam in 2009.

Three years back, Truecaller raised $18.8 million in funding led by Sequoia Capital India.

Mary Meeker Internet Trends of 2017 states that WhatsApp still heads the list by being the most downloaded app followed by Messenger and ShareIt.

Truecaller​ attained these great heights due to innovative breakthroughs and achieved its efficacy. It has updated itself to Truecaller 8 which provides real-time caller ID and spam protection.


Not only this but also, it tied up with Google for Google Duo. Duo allows making video calls using contact’s phone number via Truecaller app.

It also collaborated with ICICI bank.

This will help ICICI customers to transfer money to their friends using IMPS protocol.

Truecaller also filter out the spam messages and also ensures message safety by instantly letting people know who is messaging.

In the case of any emergency, Truecaller allows its users to send pre-defined messages to any other Truecaller user.

With the increase in the Smartphone purchase in the market, there is a 71% growth in the Indian App Market which is significantly higher than the 15% app downloads recorded over the globe. In 2016, India gained over the US and became second largest Smartphone market.
